I've got a vision, my friends. Has anyone seen a tree similar to this out and about? This one is from Pottery Barn and a bit more than I want to spend....but I imagine would be on sale soon enough for next year's Lent/Easter event.

My mom does a similar type of thing with a few branches in a vase and eggs that we blew out and painted and some other collected eggs, hanging from it on ribbons. It reminds me of my parents' living room in the springtime:) -BW
If you are going to blow eggs, poke both ends of the egg with a needle and then stick the needle to pierce the yolk. The insides blow out so much easier and your face won't turn such a bright shade of red. I learned from experience. :)
Ok - i didn't read my comments until I posted. I meant to say, poke both ends of the shell and then stick the needle inside the egg to pierce the yolk. Sorry!
My mom used/uses pussy willow branches...similar to BW's mom. I don't love the artifical branches that I saw at Michaels and I like the tree idea.
I was hoping to make 40 leaves for the kids to put on the tree over Lent. One each day. THEN in Easter hang eggs, etc. I have a lot of blown out eggs from the past years and a few other decortations, too.
If you see a tree...let me know. Otherwise I'll have to go look around again. (without the helpers.)
Maybe I can find an interesting tree branch out here in Seattle. Forsythia has started blooming in our apt. backyard. :-) I doubt if the willows will be out when I get home as I think I will have to wade thru hip high snow.
I have many fun memories of us blowing out eggs oh my.
Cute idea, H.....I just realized Valentine's Day already passed us by, so I guess those cards aren't going out this year ;-) I am amazed at your ability to stay on top of holidays. Truly.
Maybe a bonsai tree? I am thinking Karate Kid here, I realize, but the size might be right? Not sure on the prices though.....maybe an artificial bonsai tree ;-)

I was thinking along the same lines...you could totally make this, Heather! :)

My Mom has one....hmmm...she's had it forever but I can check to see if she remembers where she got it!

Mom
How funny that so many of us had moms that blew out eggs and made a tree like this one. And that now we are doing it also. How cool is that?? :)
Tree idea is so cute. Will keep you posted if I see one...we had pussy willow branches too. Funny how similar:)
